Language Competence:


Learners must have a thorough command of written and spoken English. One of the following pieces of evidence is compulsory.
Applicants only need their degree certificate and transcripts if their degree is from a university located in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa.

Where English is not the first language, applicants may need to provide the minimum English qualification IELTS 5.5 (with no less than 5.0 in each component).

Alternatively, Learners can prove their knowledge of English by having a degree that was taught or researched in English. During such a degree, all tutorials, supervision, and assessment should have been conducted in English. This degree must be academic. Applicants cannot use a vocational degree as proof.

Other substantial evidence of English Proficiency may be considered.

Applicants may be required to undertake a Pre-Sessional English Programme at additional cost to ensure that they have a standard of English appropriate to this level of study. If applicants do not pass this course, they will not be permitted to study on this programme.

The candidates must earn a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher and be in good academic standing.

The Curriculum


The doctorate in arts program at EIMT is designed to be completed within 3 years. Extension years are usually not granted. The program generally comprises mainly to three phases:-

1) Course Work: This phase generally is your first semester and comprises various research methods and techniques, 2-3 elective subjects related to the doctorate in arts stream you have chosen, research paper activities, seminars, and the completion of other basic requirements for the program. Most of the graduates often select their topic of research in this phase. It is also very important for the student to appear for a comprehensive exam after they have completed their course.

2) Research Lab: First of all, after learning the comprehensive exam, the candidate has to give a seminar covering the state of the art in the area of research. Further, this phase includes data collection and analysis relating to the topic of research. Your synopsis submissions, and progress report submissions every six months,multiple seminars and presentations are also included in this phase.

3) Doctoral Thesis: Before proceeding to the final submission of the thesis, the student is required to deliver a seminar covering the research work to obtain relevant feedback and suggestions. The thesis is submitted to the academic section after the open seminar. After the submission of the thesis, it is sent for evaluation by external experts. After the satisfactory evaluation of the thesis, students have to prepare for their final seminar as a part of the oral examination to the oral board, which will be reflected in the final result of the doctorate in arts degree. The scholar will be guided and supervised by the research faculty.
